Vitra Panton Plastic Chair
Created by the legendary Danish designer Verner Panton, this single piece, cantilevered plastic stacking chair has achieved such iconic status that it has appeared on the front cover of Vogue.
One of the earliest models is now in the collection of Museum of Modern Art in New York. It has even been included in the Danish Culture Canon – a collection of the greatest, most important works of Denmark's cultural heritage.
Verner Panton started designing the chair in 1960 and in 1963 his work with Vitra began. It was 4 years later that Vitra and Panton were finally able to present the first model of the Panton chair, made in fibreglass. This more recent model is made out of injection-moulded plastic.
Panton's ability to fit perfectly into any surroundings makes it ideal for modern interior design thinking.
It is at home in a world which draws less and less distinction between the design of traditional offices and public spaces such as hotels and cafes.
