The shade of this lamp is made of thin painted metal strips that prevent glare by diffusing light evenly. The basic shape of the shade is similar to that of the lamp designed for the corridors of the head office building of the National Pensions Institute.

The A811 Floor Lamp was designed by the iconic Finnish architect Alvar Aalto and launched in 1965. It marked the final addition to his floor-lamp series, continuing the design principles developed for the lighting of the National Pensions Institute in Helsinki during the 1950s.
