Artek Kiki Sofa
Ilmari Tapiovaara designed the Kiki Sofa back in 1960. It started as a stackable chair, perfect for seating big groups in places like auditoriums.
For the Kiki series, Tapiovaara switched things up, going for a sleeker, more minimalist look instead of the organic style he usually leaned towards. He also swapped out wood for oval steel tubing, which became the signature feature of the whole collection.
The Kiki series was a big hit and really set the tone for furniture design at the time. Its clean, timeless design has made it a favourite in Finland, especially for public spaces.
